I want to deal with this a little today because there is a big name preacher actually telling people that Jesus could have died without shedding any blood, it was his death that the bible is talking about." That isn't true. It is true that he died for our sins but the BLOOD being shed is super important and I hope to show that now. You can't say much about this in 30 minutes but I will try to lay a foundation.
I am going to start off with Satan talking…
in verse 5
Let's go back in time to share one more important verse with you…
Gen 3:21
"21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them."
This is the foundational setting for blood shed in the beginning or a type of blood covenant, so to speak. We will COME BACK TO THIS later...
Exodus 12:12,13
"12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."
God DIDN'T kill the first born of those who had blood on the door posts of their houses. What do you think would have happened if they did NOT obey God and did NOT put the blood on the door posts?.
We will see even clearer why the blood is so important...
Exodus 12:5-7
"5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it."
I will proceed to show you why the blood is so important to the plan of God now for at least a few reasons.
Heb. 9:22
"22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."
Keep that in mind, WITHOUT the shedding of blood there is NO remission (forgiveness) of sins.
John 1:29
"29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
Earlier I was reading Ex. 12:5....
"5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:"
"Without blemish" (unblemished)-- flawless, absolute, impeccable, exact, ideal, pure, sheer, unadulterated.
So we see this fits Jeuss, a lamb without blemish, without spot... and we can see also that it is verified to be Jesus in...
I Peter 1:18,19
"18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"
In Gen 15 God made a type of a blood covenant with Abram and later his name was changed to Abraham which means "a father of many nations". Abraham is the father of the faith, he believed God and God counted it to him for righteousness.
Gen. 17:5
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
NOW let's go back to the story of Abraham and Issac and pick up some insight from it in...
Gen.22:4-18
"4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
FIRST we see that God told Abraham to offer his son Issac, HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, whom he loved very much as a burnt offering to God AND we see in Hebrews 11:17-19 that Abraham knew that God could raise him from the dead which was a picture of God offering up HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, Jesus Christ for the world's sins whom was raised from the dead.
Heb. 11:17-19
SLAVE, noun
Also in
"17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son.
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure."
This clearly shows that Abraham KNEW that God would raise his son from the dead showing that he was a type, a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ being offered by God the Father for the sins of the world whom GOD DID RAISE from the dead. I have shown in another teaching that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost raised Jesus from the dead.
I had a girl who I knew ask me a question seeking to show we can't go by the bible, we need new revelation from God NOT the old book. She then asked me would I offer up my son as a sacrifice if God told me to. I told her no since God will NOT tell me to. She said that I don't know that. I tell her that I do know that. All the old testament types and figures of the reality are over and done with. They won't be used by God anymore since those types and figures have been fulfilled in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins.
Types and figures are not needed anymore since the Lord Jesus Christ came and fulfilled all of them about his death, burial and resurrection. I use them at times to show a point to someone such as
Exo. 21:6
6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
I had my ear pierced years ago to illustrate the same truth when I am on the streets, showing that I CHOOSE to be a love servant of the Lord Jesus Christ forever BUT it turns out that I am far MORE, I am his bride, his child, his son, his brother, his friend, I am in his family NOW I am FAR MORE than his SERVANT. SOme Christinas think that they are slaves and I was never a slave and will never be one. God doesn't want slaves, Satan does.
1. A person who is wholly subject to the will of another; one who has no will of his own, but whose person and services are wholly under the control of another. In the early state of the world, and to this day among some barbarous nations, prisoners of war are considered and treated as slaves. The slaves of modern times are more generally purchased, like horses and oxen.
2. One who has lost the poser of resistance; or one who surrenders himself to any power whatever; as a slave to passion, to lust, to ambition.
3. A mean person; one in the lowest state of life.
4. A drudge; one who labors like a slave
SLAVE, verb intransitive To drudge; to toil; to labor as a slave.
Gen.22:7
"7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together."
Isaac asked his father where the lamb for the burnt offering was. In V.8 Abraham said, "...My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together."
The KJV Bible is the only bible that I know of that correctly translates this to show that God was going to give himself in the future for the sins of the world. He was the lamb that takes away the sins of the world.
BUT in v.13 we see that God provided a ram for the occasion BUT the lamb that God offered up was Jesus Chrirt when he came in human flesh a few thousand years later...
John 1:29,30
MORE DEFINITIONS:
sheep-- (1) any of the group of cud-chewing mammals
Goats are more independent than sheep. They tend to trust more in their own strength, courage and ability so remember...
The key verse in all of this…
Youngest to oldest-- Elizabeth, Daniel, Steven, Katerina, and Gayle. I love ya'll very much and I am praying for you.
Jesus is coming soon, super soon.
"29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me."
Once again we see the natual falls apart in the supernatural. The type (Isaac) wasn't sacrificed, the reality Christ Jesus was.
I also see in Gen 22:13 that Abraham lifted up his eyes to look, God gives us eyes to see whether in the natural or the supernatural. In turn, God gives us eyes to see as we walk in faith.
Goat-- (1) any of various hollow-horned, cud-chewing, wild or domestic mammals closely related to the sheep. Goats are stronger, less timid, and more agile than sheep.
lamb-- (1) a young sheep (4) a young, dear or innocent person.
Jer. 17:5
"5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD."
It's like we are ALL goats until we are born again and then we become transformed from goats to sheep, depending on the Shepherd to survive, to truly live. I don't want to be one of the goats again. Check the judgment of the nations in Matt. 25:31-46...
God is going to separate the goats and the sheep in the last days. The goats will be to the left and the sheep to the right. The judgements are not the same, one judgment is showing the lost why they are going to hell and the other judgment is for the sheep, his people and it is to do with rewards and the like.
We have seen that Jesus is the lamb of God that takes the sins the sins of the world in John 1:29,30 a few minutes ago. In reading John 10:11, he is the Shepherd of the sheep but in John 10:7,9 we see that he is the door of the sheepfold. The goats must come in through him to be one of his sheep.
JUST as ADAM and EVE had an animal's blood spilled by God to clothe them physically which was an outward type of an inward reality called sin. NOW THERE HAD TO BE BLOOD SPILLED TO CLOTHE THEM and us SPIRITUALLY WHICH WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY JESUS CHRIST, the Son of the living God. The only one who could do that was the Son of God in human flesh, the sinless one since he became a man, he had his blood shed to set us free from sin. The preacher that I mentioned at the beginning of this was right in the sense that it shows he must die for the sins of the world but he was WRONG in the sense he said that Jesus DID NOT have to shed his blood to redeem us, DEAD WRONG, so to speak.
Acts 20:28
"28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood."
God had blood when he came in human flesh and we know him as Jesus Christ.
AND BECAUSE of the blood of Jesus which is the blood of God I am.…
