How dry I am, (hic up! hic up!)
how I wet I'll be (hic up!)
if I don't find a place to pee!(hic up! hic up!)

Booze is a big topic today. It is also the biggest killer of any
drug around. The word of God has a lot to say regarding
alcoholic drinks. We read in Hab. 2:15, "Woe unto him that
giveth his neighbor drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest
him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!"
Some seem to think that it is just talking about making a
person drunk to see their nakedness but is that what it is truly
saying? It says, "Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink,
that putteth thy bottle to him, AND..." (Emphasis mine) First we
see that a woe is pronounced on the one who gives another drink
and as we continue on we will see that it is talking about strong
drink, wine and other forms of booze. The making him drunk and
seeing his nakedness is next in line but the woe is for both or
either.
Next we need to see a thought for Christians since we are to
"abstain from all appearance of evil" (I Thessalonians 5:22)
Whenever you see a commercial on drinking it usually has a girl
half undressed or looks like it and she is usually pretty, happy,
and sometimes with a cancer stick in the other hand looking up
town, that is to the world that has been blinded by Satan. Booze
is addicting, it is controlling, it affects the brain cells, the
liver, and other parts of the body to the negative. There isn't
really anything good that can be said about it for a Christian.
It makes you forgetful, it affects your pocket book, another way
to say your money will see the fruit of drinking but other hands
will handle more of your money as you continue on your drinking
spree.
Now I am going to tie in another thought about drinking.
God is speaking to Aaron and Aaron is a priest of God so this is
to the priesthood if you read the verses preceding and succeeding
these verses.
"9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with
thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye
die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:
"10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and
between unclean and clean;
"11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the
statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of
Moses." Lev. 10:9-11
From this set of verses we see that priests are not to drink
wine of strong drink when they go into the tabernacle of the
congregation and God goes on to show that this is separating the
holy and the unholy, the clean and the unclean and they are to
teach it to their children. Some will say, "Yea but that is only
when they get ready for 'church' activities." I will be tying
thoughts concerning that in a couple of minutes. Those verses
were concerning the priesthood and now let's look at kings.
Going to Prov 31:4,5 "It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not
for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
"Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the
judgment of any of the afflicted."
So from these couple of verses we see that kings or those in
authority shouldn't drink strong drink, it will cause them to
move unjustly in their decision making processes.
Now let's tie some thoughts together on the drinking
concerning kings and priests. The word makes it plain that we
are kings and priests unto God. 1 Pet 2:9 says, "But ye are a
chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar
people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath
called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" Also in
Rev 1:6, "And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his
Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
So from this we see that all Christians are kings and
priests unto God. The bible talks about in the book of Acts how
the world thought that the Christians were filled with wine when
they were filled with the Spirit. When a Christian is walking in
the fullness of the Holy Spirit, he is thought on by the world to
be drinking since it takes you out of your natural state and
causes you to walk in a bold, a courage, a wisdom that is not
your own so the world will think that you have been drinking too
much. To make this last point a little clearer, let's look at I
Cor. 1:18, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish
foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."
So from this verse we see that the wisdom of the world is
foolishness with God and hence the wisdom of God would be
foolishness with the world.
"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is
deceived thereby is not wise." Prov 20:1
Wouldn't it make sense that those who waste time, money,
taking chances on getting addicted to the junk are being deceived
and in turn are not wise. At least not wise from God's
standpoint.
In closing, I will deal with the description where strong drink
has taken many a strong man and woman, to an early death...
11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they
may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine
inflame them!
12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine,
are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD,
neither consider the operation of his hands.
13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they
have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and
their multitude dried up with thirst.
14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth
without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their
pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. (Isaiah 5)
Booze is like the "little white god" called the cigarette, it is
just another thing to control man, to lead him down the wrong
path, to consume him and to addict him with things that are
useless and senseless.
