Roman Catholic Beliefs- Part 11- A Short Break and Summary

Part 11 of "Cathechism Chat"

Jesus said, "Search the scriptures, for you think in them to have life everlasting; and the same are they that give testimony of me. And you will not come to me that you may have life."
(John 5:39,40; Douay Version)

Before I go deeper into Roman Catholic teachings. I want to make a few comments. Some people tell me that there are some Christians in the Roman Catholic Church. I tell them that I agree but very few were saved in the Roman Catholic Church and those that I know of that were, it wasn't planned by the priests or anyone else in any kind of power there. It would be what some call an accident but in reality enough truth went forth and a man got set free and then he left the Roman Catholic Church. I know of other ex-Roman Catholics that tell basically the same type of story. Why? Because what few Roman Catholics that are real born-again Christians need to come out and many do. God's word says, "...come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you," God's word also says, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" and 'And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.' And that is what these articles are all about, helping Christians see clearer what Roman Catholicism really teaches and believes so that they can be used of God to bring them into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Also comparing Catholic teachings with the bible so that Roman Catholics might see that they are not in the only true Church as they claim, they are not even in a part of it. Roman Catholicism doesn't teach biblical salvation. Roman Catholicism teaches that through water baptism you are born again and the keeping of the sacraments helps you to stay saved. True Christianity teaches that you are saved through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross when you repent of your sins, turn from them to him as he makes you a new creature. He'll move right into your life and empower you to live for him.

Roman Catholicism teaches prayer is to be addressed to dead saints, angels and to Mary or to God. But Mary and the saints can't answer prayers. Angels can only when God tells them what to do, but not by praying to them but praying to God. Angels are servants to Christians. Prayer is a form of worship and worship is just meant for God.

Roman Catholicism teaches that their church was built upon Peter. And when you are in a church built upon a man, you're in the wrong church. The true Church is built upon Jesus Christ and no other, the God-man.

Roman Catholicism believes in a bloodless sacrifice that being their Sacrifice of the Mass and the bible tells me that without the shedding of blood there is no remission [of sins]. They also believe that their Holy Eurcharist is literally the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Yet my bible tells me that his body won't see corruption and it will if they are literally eating Jesus Christ. Also Jesus is to die once for the sins of the world not over and over and over as the Roman Catholic Church teaches.

They put tradition alongside or above the bible yet Jesus told the Jews of his day that they make the word of God useless by their traditions in the Douay. The Roman Catholics would be wise to take heed to Jesus' words because they too are making the word useless or 'of none effect' through their tradition and they are even changing the word trying to make it fit their tradition. The Jews didn't even do that during Jesus' time.

The Roman Catholics have venial and mortal sins. Little sins and big sins but the bible that I feed on tells me that sin is sin and God hates all sin and the soul that sins shall die. The wages of sin is death.. (that's physical and spiritual, separation from God for all eternity) but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Check Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Come to the Lord Jesus Christ for life, not a church, or a so- called priest, or rules and regulations, sacraments but to him and him alone. He is the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes unto the Father but by him. Check John 14:6 (KJV)
