Roman Catholic Beliefs- Part 15- The 2nd Commandment of the 10 Commandments

Part 15 of "Cathechism Chat"

Jesus said, "Search the scriptures, for you think in them to have life everlasting; and the same are they that give testimony of me. And you will not come to me that you may have life."
(John 5:39,40; Douay Version)

I'll be speaking on the 2nd. Commandment of the Ten Commandments. I'll be reading out of "A Catechism for Adults" by Rev.(?) William J. Cogan. and making a few comments concerning the Douay Version of the Bible that the Roman Catholics put out years ago. I won't be reading the 2nd. Commandment to you out of the catechism book because they took it out and made the 10th Commandment, two commandments so that they would still retain 10 Commandments. I also looked and looked for Psalm 115 in the Douay Version of the Bible and I couldn't find it but a Christian brother told me that it was in there so I started looking again and I found it this time, it's Ps. 113. I will be discussing that particular Psalm in this message also. I have discussed the 1st Commandment before when I was discussing the worship of Mary and the dead saints by using question 4 in Lesson 33 which says,
"How do you worship God?
(answer) By praying to Him both in private and in public."

Because of this we see that prayers to Mary and dead saints are worship. Now we need to see that prayers to statues are worship and you become like them.

The 2nd Commandment that is in the Bible and is not found in the catechism book says, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;" -Exodus 20:4,5 The Roman Catholic church is world-wide known for praying to statues especially statues of Mary and that is an abomination in God's sight. Now we need to see the Psalm that I couldn't find in their Bible for a while. I will be reading Psalm 115 out of God's holy word. It says,
"Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them." -Psalm 115:4-8 KJV

I believe that it says enough without further comment. Come to the one true God of the bible. Turn from the false worship of dead saints, Mary, statues, angels, etc. The Lord Jesus Christ is calling. Jesus said, "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." -John 6:37 Those whom the Father gives to Jesus are those who come to God on his terms, not ours. Salvation is a free gift and it can't be worked for in any way, form or fashion. We are to just trust the Lord and watch him work his will out in our lives as we submit to him. Just believe in the one sacrifice that Jesus made for you on the cross. Ask him to forgive you and come into your life. Thanks! Bye for now!
