Written by Danny D. Bunn, B.A. (Born Again Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ)
Let's see what the word has to say.
The unclean spirits obey Him. (Mark 1:27)
He heals at the power of his word and forgives sins. (Mark
2:5-13)
He calms the storm, the wind and the sea obey him. (Mark 4:38-
41)
He walked on the water as if it were dry land. (Matthew
14:26-31)
The prophets continually used "This is what Jehovah has said"
compared to his "However I say unto you." Read his sermon on the
mount (Matthew 5:18, 20, 22, 26, 28, 32, 39, 44). He didn't need
to say, "This is what Jehovah has said," because he was and is
Jehovah God Almighty (see Revelation 1:8). Also remember, before
his sermon on the mount, he told Satan, ..."It is written, 'Man
must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth
through Jehovah's mouth.'"(check Matthew 4:4) Then he proceeded
in his sermon on the mount to tell men how they must live.
Who is this person?
His name is Jesus, and if Jesus is just 'a god', as John 1:1
says (New World Translation), then he is a false one because
Jehovah says that there weren't any gods before him, neither shall
there be any after him and he is the only savior (check Isaiah
43:10,11; 45:21). Since there is only one true God, any other god
would be a false god (check I Corinthians 8:4-7). Whether it's a
little 'g' or big 'G' in god, it doesn't matter because in the
Hebrew and Greek languages, there weren't any capital letters in
the word 'god'. While we're on this particular subject of gods, I
have a question:
If Jesus is a little 'g' god in John 1:1, why is He a big 'G'
God in Isaiah 9:6?
I have another question using Isaiah 43:10,11 and 45:21 mentioned
above:
Why is Jesus called our savior when Jehovah said, "...besides
me there is no savior."
A few scriptures that tell us that Jesus is the saviour are: John
4:42; Titus 1:3,4; 2:13; 3:6; 2 Peter 1:1,11.
Worship doesn't belong to anybody but God. So based on
Hebrews 1:6, the Son is God (compare Matthew 4:10)."But when he
again brings his first-born into the inhabited earth, he says: 'And
let all God's angels worship him.'" (Hebrews 1:6, any version
before the 1971 edition of the New World Translation).
Then Jesus said to him: "Go away, Satan! For it is
written, 'It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him
alone you must render sacred service.' " (Matthew 4:10)
Even though the word 'worship' in Hebrews 1:6 was finally
changed to 'obeisance' in the 1971 edition of the New World
Translation)-which was allowed in the Old Testament to others,
mainly royalty (see Genesis 43:28; Exodus 18:7; II Samuel 1:2,
14:4, 15:5; I Kings 1:16; II Chronicles 24:17)- God doesn't allow
it anymore towards anyone but himself because obeisance is an
outward act of worship. God calls all people everywhere to repent
(check Acts 10:25,26; Acts 17:22-34). You could also check in the
Watchtower, October 15, 1945 on page 313,it says, quoting:"..then
whoever would worship him must also worship and bow to Jehovah's
Chief One in that capital organization, namely, Christ Jesus, his
Co-regent on the throne of The Theocracy."
In reference to first-born in Hebrews 1:6, let me ask you a
question:
Who was first-born regarding Joseph's two sons in the Old
Testament? Was it Manasseh or Ephraim?
If you said Manasseh, you were right (see Genesis 41:51,52).
But in Jeremiah 31:9, God said Ephraim is His first-born. Did God
forget who was first-born? I believe Psalm 89:27 should help clear
this one up.
"Also, I myself shall place him as first-born, The
most high of the kings of the earth."
So we see by reading this, the 'first-born' can mean position of
authority or rank. And Jesus said, "All authority has been given
me in heaven and on the earth." (see Matthew 28:18) So since Jesus
has all authority in heaven and on earth, and if he is not Jehovah,
then Jehovah is in trouble.
In Isaiah 42:8, Jehovah said that he would not give his glory
to another. Yet, Jesus said, "So now you, Father, glorify me
alongside yourself with the glory that I had with you before the
world was." (John 17:5) Jesus said that he was sharing in the
Father's glory before the world was and Jehovah said that he would
not give His glory to another. So it should stand to reason that
Jesus is Jehovah. Now we go to Isaiah 45:23, when Jehovah is
speaking again saying, "By my own self I have sworn-out of my own
mouth in righteousness the word has gone forth, so that it will not
return- that to me every knee will bend down, every tongue will
swear." Then we go to Philippians 2:10,11: "...so that at the
name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those
on earth and those under the ground, and every tongue should openly
acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the
Father."
Do I need to say it? I will. Jesus is Jehovah! Praise his
holy name!!
There are many, many ways to show that the Son is Jehovah.
We've shown this by the things that He did when He walked this
planet; that there are things or people that are called gods but
that there is only one true God and any other god would be a false
god; that Jehovah is the only saviour yet Jesus is the saviour; that
first-born means rank or position of authority in reference to
Jesus; that Jehovah would not give his glory to another yet Jesus
was sharing in the Father's glory before the world ever was; that
every knee will bow to Jesus just as they will to Jehovah. Now to
show that Jesus is Jehovah in a little bit different way.
In reference to creation: "This is what Jehovah has said, your
Repurchaser and the Former of you from the belly: 'I Jehovah, am
doing everything, stretching out the heavens by myself, laying out
the earth. Who was with me?" (Isaiah 44:24) Going to John 1:3
speaking of Jesus: "All things came into existence through him, and
apart from him not even one thing came into existence." Also
Colossians 1:16,17: "...because by means of him all (other) things
were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible
and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or
lordships or governments or authorities. All (other) things have
been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all
(other) things and by means of him all (other) things were made to
exist."
COMMENT: The word (other) was added four times to these two
verses of scripture which changes the meaning entirely, and they
were not in the original greek.
Now I have a question in regard to these four verses just
mentioned:
If Jehovah says that he did everything in creating the
heavens and earth by himself, then why does it say in John 1:3 that
all things came into existence through him (Jesus) and apart from
him not even one thing came into existence? Once again, I ask, did
Jehovah lie or forget that he didn't do it by Himself? Or we are
back to the obvious conclusion- Jesus is Jehovah!
In Matthew 3:3. we read: "This , in fact, is the one spoken of
through Isaiah the prophet in these words: 'Listen! Someone is
crying out in the wilderness, "Prepare the way of Jehovah, you
people! Make his roads straight." ' " (compare Isaiah 40:3). Now
this was speaking of John the Baptist preparing the way for
Jehovah. Now who was he preparing the road for? Jesus, of course!
Then we read in Hebrews 1:10-12 where Jehovah is talking to
the Son and he says, "And: You at the beginning, O Lord, laid the
foundations of the earth itself, and the heavens are the works of
your hands. They themselves will perish, but you yourself are to
remain continually; and just like an outer garment they will grow
old, and you will wrap them up as a cloak, as an outer garment; and
they will be changed, but you are the same, and your years will
never run out." This is a quote from Psalm 102:25-27 speaking of
Jehovah. Also keep in mind Isaiah 44:24 previously discussed.
Let's use one more example in reference to Jesus being
Jehovah. In Isaiah 62:11, we read: "Look! Jehovah himself has
caused it to be heard to the farthest part of the earth: Say, you
people to the daughter of Zion, 'Look! Your salvation is coming.
Look! The reward he gives is with him, and the wages he pays are
before him.' " The word 'salvation' in this verse is 'Yeshua' in
the Hebrew which is the same as 'lesus' in the Greek and 'Jesus' in
the English. In other words, this verse is talking about Jesus
coming and the reward that He gives is with Him, and the wages that
He pays are before Him. To see this even better, let's go to
Isaiah 40:10 which says, "Look! The Lord Jehovah himself will come
even as a strong one, and his arm will be ruling for him. Look!
His reward is with him, and the wage he pays is before him." Now
let's see this fulfilled in Jesus in Revelation 22:12: "Look! I am
coming quickly, and the reward that I give is with me, to render
everyone as his work is."
Last but not least- the Trinity. Although the word 'Trinity'
isn't in the Bible, it's implied all over. Naming a few scriptures
like 2 Corinthians 13:14, Matthew 28:19, John 14:23-26; 16:7-16,
etc. And Jesus never said that he was Michael the archangel, it's
not even implied. Besides that, Michael the archangel isn't
Jehovah's highest creation- Lucifer is. Keep in mind, the word
'Lucifer' means 'the shining one' by the J.W.'s definition. By reading Ezekiel 28:11-19,
especially verses 13 & 14, we see God is speaking to the king and
even pass him to the spiritual power at work in and through him.
Remember that a cherub is an angel. Also check Isaiah 14:5-18,
especially verses 12-14. Neither can this scripture entirely fit
some earthly king. Jesus did the same thing when He walked this
planet- when Peter made a bad comment and Jesus reproved him and
said, "Get behind me, Satan..." In the same way that God was talking
to the spiritual power (Lucifer/Satan) behind the king of Tyre and the
king of Babylon, Jesus was talking to the spiritual power (Satan/Lucifer)
operating in Peter.
Back to the Trinity-- Genesis 1:26 has God saying, "Let us make man
in our image.."; then in verse 27, we see that God created man in
His image. Why did it go from plural to singular unless it was
speaking of the three in the one God.
Who raised Jesus from the dead?
God the Father (see Galatians 1:1)
God the Son (see John 2:19)
God the Holy Spirit (see Romans 8:11)
(Also check 2 Corinthians 3:17,18)
A few more scriptures showing Jehovah's nature is spirit and that
the Holy Spirit is a person: John 16:7,8; Acts 5:3,4. Also check
out I Kings 8:27 and Jeremiah 23:24.
Let's use an illustration. Space is comprised of height,
depth, and width. Height is not depth, depth is not width but it
takes all three to make one space. In basically the same way, the
Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Spirit, but it takes
all three to make the one God of the Bible.
Now I would like to speak on one of the most important
subjects in the Bible- salvation. Going to Romans 4:4-6, we read
these words: "Now to the man that works the pay is counted, not as
undeserved kindness, but as a debt. On the other hand, to the man
that does not work but puts faith in him who declares the ungodly
one righteous, his faith is counted as righteousness. Just as
David also speaks of the happiness of the man to whom God counts
righteousness apart from works." So we see from reading this that
it is faith that pleases God. Then in Ephesians 2:8,9: "By this
undeserved kindness, indeed, you have been saved through faith; and
this is not owing to you, it is God's gift. No, it is not owing to
works, in order that no man can have ground for boasting." We
can't work to please Him in ourselves and in our own strength. We
accept Him through His finished work on the cross, then He makes us
new creations and works in us to will and to do of His good
pleasure (see Hebrews 11:6, Titus 3:4-6, 2 Corinthians 5:17,
Philippians 2:13).
All through this pamphlet I used the New World Translation of
the scriptures even though it is not the word of God. I used this
version to show that Jesus is still Jehovah and that by grace
through faith in him, we become children of God (see Galatians
3:24-26).
This pamphlet has been written because you are very important
to Jehovah God and because of that you are important to me. Please
call me or e-mail me if I can talk to you about anything in this article, or
just talk to you because I care.
So many people are being hammered with
religion over and over that it begins to give you a head ache.
I am not out to do that, I would just like to share Jesus with you and what
he has done in my life and some of the things that he wants to do in yours.
I talk to so many people and they are tired of people coming to their door with
a new religious package and if you join their "church" you will receive this and
escape that and if you do so much for them and their "God" you will "gain" or is it
"earn" eternal life. Jesus came to set us free from sin and its wages which is death,
spiritually speaking, which is hell.
