Mormon Beliefs- Part 2- Hell in the Book of Mormon
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
This time I will be discussing the Book of Mormon again. This will be part 2 on this series of discussing the Book of Mormon.
Starting off with this message, I would like to discuss the doctrine of hell in the Book of Mormon. Listen carefully regarding some of the things that the Book of Mormon has to say about hell. Going to 1 Nephi 14:v.3, "And that great pit, which has been digged for them by that great and abominable church, which was founded by the devil and his children, that he might lead away the souls of men down to hell-- yea, that great pit which has been digged for the destruction of men shall be filled by those who digged it, unto their utter destruction saith the Lamb of God; not the destruction of the soul, save it be the casting of it into that hell which has no end."
From here let's go to 2 Nephi 28:v. 21-23, "And others will he (speaking of the devil) pacify, and lull away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well- and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.
And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell; and he saith unto them: I am no devil, for there is none-and thus he whispereth in hteir ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.
Yea, they are grasped with death, and hell; and death, and hell, and the devil, and all that has been seized therewith must stand before the throne of God, and be judged according to their works, from whence they must go into the place prepared for them, even a lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment."
And the things that I have read from Mormon writers and discussions I've had with Mormons trying to get rid of the endless torment that the Book of Mormon talks about is just another unbelievable subject. The lies that Satan has started and the twisting that he must do to keep his lies going is something else.
Now let's go to Mosiah 3:vs. 25-27, "And if they be evil they are consigned to an awful view of their own guilt and abominations which doth cause them to shrink from the presence of the Lord into a state of misery and endless torment, from whence they can no more return; therefore they have drunk damnation to their own souls.
Therefore, they have drunk out of the cup of the wrath of God, which justice could no more deny unto them than it could deny that Adam should fall because of his partaking of the forbidden fruit; therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever.
And their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flames are unquenchable, and whose smoke ascendeth up forever and ever. Thus hath the Lord commanded me. Amen."
This will be the final one for now and it's in Alma 34:vs. 32-35,
"For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.
And now, as I have said unto you before, as you have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.
Ye cannot say, when ye are brought ot that awful crisis, then will I repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess you bodies your bodies at the time that you go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.
For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even unto death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you , and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked.
And this I know, because the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell; yea, and he has also said that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white through the blood of the Lamb."
A FEW COMMENTS: From reading these few verses in the Book of Mormon, we see that hell is eternal, that it is fire and brimstone, that the wicked will go there, those who don't have the spirit of God living within them and the spirit of God comes to live within you when you truly repent (turn from sin) to the Lord, ask him to come in and make you new and he will. Remember from other messages that the spirit of God is God. Now let's see if the Book of Mormon teaches the born again experience as the Christians believe it but not as the Mormons believe it. In Mosiah 27:24-28 ,
"For said he, I have repented of my sins, and have been redeemed of the Lord; behold I am born of the Spirit.
And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters;
And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can nowise inherit the kingdom of God.
I say unto you, unless this be the case, they must be cast off; and this I know, because I was like to be cast off.
Nevertheless, after much wandering through much tribulation, repenting nigh unto death, the Lord in mercy hath seen fit to snatch me out of an everlasting burning, and I am born of God.
MORE COMMENTS: I see from this that Alma was snatched out of everlasting burnings because he was born of God yet in History of the Church, Vol. 6, pages 306 and 366, we see that Joseph Smith's God lives in everlasting burnings. We see two completely different Gods here and the Christian God doesn't live in everlasting burnings but the Mormon God does because he is a false God since there isn't but one true God. Jesus loves you ever so much and He doesn't want you going to that awful place called hell. He's done His part, now do yours, receive Him into your life as your Lord and Saviour. He calling today so answer his call by inviting him into your life, He's fanastic. He's everything that you could hope for and more. Also please e-mail me, I would love to talk to you more indepth. John 1:12 says, "But to as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, to them that believe on his name." We're speaking of a heart belief here, ask Jesus Christ in to change you and give you the strength to live for him. He's worth it.
