The word makes it plain that God has been from everlasting to everlasting. He has no beginning and he will have no ending. He is God. Yet when God put on a human form, he played by the rules. He had to have a mother. In the word, we read about two lineages in the Gospels, one was the lineage that Joseph came through and the other was the lineage that Mary came through showing that Jesus was of the correct position to be priest\king through the two lineages and from that line going all the way back to Abraham. Luke 2:4 shows that Joseph was of the lineage of David, cf.Matt.1:1-17. Luke 3:23-38 which shows that Mary and Joseph came through the same lineage from David who had more than one wife (Cf.II Sam. 5:13,14.) so Joseph is the son-in-law of Heli. Joseph had two fathers after he married Mary, his father and his wife's father. We would call him a father-in-law today and in the word they are called fathers or fathers-in-law (cf. I Sam 24:16,17) I would also like to mention that Jesus came after the order of Melchizedek who was without mother or father in the Old Testament And Jesus in his humanity was and is without mother or father in the sense that it was a supernatural birth. No sperm or egg was needed in his birth. God said in Heb. 5:5,6 that he had begotten him and he shall be a Father to Jesus and Jesus a Son to him. Hebrews 7:1-3 tells a little more about Melchisedec, that he was without mother or father, without decent, not having beginning of days nor end of life. This had to be a pre-incarnation appearance of Jesus. So he fulfilled two priesthoods, the temporal priesthood through Aaron and the eternal priesthood that started with the new testament church that started in the book of Acts. Jesus was to be the last Adam. The first Adam was sinless until he sinned and the last Adam was sinless and he never sinned. So those who were born through the first Adam are sinners (that's everybody on planet earth) and those who are born-again through the last Adam are saints (that's those who received Jesus through his finished work on the cross).
So Mary was chosen to be the vessel that bore the body of the Son of God. The bible teaches the Word was made flesh or became man, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14. Jesus grew in stature with God and man, he hungered and was thirsty, he walked where he went, he slept, etc. God does none of those things. Hebrews 10:5 says, "Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:"
God is a spirit and is everywhere present. He is all powerful and all knowing. He doesn't increase in wisdom, stature, and favor with God or man as the word says that Jesus did in Luke 2:52. Jesus increased in those things in his human nature, he was 100 percent man.
Mary was a humble woman who loved and served God. She needed his salvation. I praise God that Mary was submissive, obedient to him but she is not to be prayed to or sought after. God is the only one who is absolutely needed in this life and in the next.
The word says that there is none greater than John the Baptist of those who are born of women and that includes Mary as we see in Matt.11:11. Just as John the Baptist realized when he made the following statement concerning Jesus, "He must increase, but I must decrease." (Check John 3:30). Mary also had to go to the background when Jesus presented himself as the Son of God to the world. She isn't named in the word even 20 times and Jesus is named over 700 times besides all of the titles and types concerning him in the Old and New Testament. That should say something in itself. I could mention the one and only command that Mary gave at a wedding feast which was in regards to doing whatever Jesus told them to do. Once again, he was to play the preeminent role not Mary. She needed a Saviour, she was a sinner and she needed Jesus just as everyone else needs him.
Jesus being the Messiah which is Christ drew everyone's attention to himself. He was the focus and provider of everyone's needs. Mary is not mentioned when Jesus was feeding the thousands, healing the sick, the handicapped, raising the dead, etc. She was somewhere but we do not know where. When she did show up one time when he was preaching and healing, he did not fulfill her request to come to where she was at when she called for him. Check Matt. 12:46-50 which says,
