Is this Success?

"In 1923 a group of the world's most successful financiers met at the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago. Collectively, these tycoons controlled more wealth than there was in the United States Treasury, and for years newspapers and magazines printed their success stories and urged young people to follow their examples. Here is the rest of the story:

1.-Charles Schwab- the president of the largest independent steel company- lived on borrowed money the last five years of his life, and died penniless.
2.-Richard Whitney- the president of the New York Stock Exchange- served time in Sing Sing.
3.-Albert Fall- the member of the President's Cabinet- was pardoned from prison so he could die at home.
4.-Jesse Livermore-the greatest bear in Wall Street- committed suicide.
5.-Leon Fraser- the president of the Bank of International Settlement- committed suicide.
6.-Ivar Krueger- the head of the world's greatest monopoly- committed suicide.

More modern examples of business men, movie stars, and sports figures could be added to the list. All of these people learned how to make a fine living, but not one of them had learned how to live. Have you?

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? -Matt.16:26"

I don't know who wrote the above article but it was worth reading so it was worth sharing with you.

Money? The love of money is the root of all evil. There isn't much that man won't do for money! He will kill for it, steal for it, lie for it, sell his or her body for it. Money equals pleasure to most people or at least it seems that way. The more money, the more toys to buy and the "better" life to live. There have been story after story of people who sought to get all they could get and still they died unhappy, unfulfilled, etc. Money can't give true life, true peace, true joy but Jesus can. God came in human flesh to set us free from sin by dying on the cross in our place. When we accept the Lord Jesus Christ into our lives as Lord and Saviour, we will then experience this life and only then will we truly learn how to be content. Toys won't fulfill your innermost need not even the most expensive ones but Jesus can and will as you look to him. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12)
