"Smile, Love is here??? Ha!Ha!Ha!
Ho! Ho! He! He!"
One of the most well known verses in the bible isn't really known
even to a small degree by most. Let's read it and discuss it.
It's John 3:16:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
Now, let's take a section at a time:
The Creator of all that is, who spoke into existence what he
wanted and it came into being (Genesis 1; Isaiah 44:24, Colossians
1:16,17).Then to top his creation off, he made man (Gen. 1:26-28).
We make light of the word 'love' today, but God didn't when this
was written and he doesn't now. Love is an action word, it's not
just speaking, it is doing. In John 15:13, we read these words:
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
When God became a man in the man Christ Jesus, he daily laid his
life down for us. He put his wants and desires aside continually
as he went about doing all manner of good and being a servant to
us, his creation (John 1:3, Mark 10:45). But if that doesn't blow
your mind and make you stop to think, he did even more. He became
the sin offering on the cross for the whole world so that we might
become the righteousness of God in him (II Cor.5:21) by accepting
him into our lives through his finished work on the cross of
Golgotha ('place of a skull') and his resurrection from the dead.
That's you and me and everyone else who ever lived on this
planet or ever will live on it. He made of Himself, a one-time
offering that never needs to be repeated. He finished it, just
believe him and receive him and he'll make you a new creature. (II
Cor.5:17). Also reading I Tim.2:4:
"Who (God) will have all men saved, and come into the knowledge of the truth."
"...that he gave..."
Earlier we were talking about love being an action word. Here
is one aspect of it and that is giving. Giving of yourself for
others, and that is what God did in Jesus (Romans 5:8, 8:32).
"...his only begotten Son..."
He's unique, one of a kind; a member of the Godhead; God in
human flesh (John 1:1, 1:14; Isaiah 9:6, Hebrews 1:8).
Just as we saw in the section of this verse, 'the world', you're
included here too. So if you see your need of a Saviour and Lord,
he's the one that you are looking for and that brings us to the
next part of this verse.
"...believeth in him..."
Believing in your heart is receiving him (John 1:12), not just
a head knowledge that doesn't save (James 2:19). It's clinging to,
trusting him as your Lord and Saviour.
"...should not perish..."
This has to do with losing your sense of well-being in the lake
of fire for all eternity (Revelation 20:10-15).
"...but have everlasting life."
This is life in the fullest sense of the word and you will live
it throughout all eternity (John 10:10; Romans 6:23; I John 5:11-
Now let's re-read this verse but in a different way by using the
comments that were made:
For the Creator of all that is so loved in a deep and lasting way
everybody on this planet that he gave, which was a showing forth of
his love, his one of a kind, unique only begotten Son that anyone who believes in him with their heart (their total being) should not lose their
sense of well-being in the lake of fire forever but have life in
the absolute highest form possible for all eternity.
Packs a punch, doesn't it? Praise God!
Now if you realize that you are a sinner and that he died for
your sins, but death couldn't hold him, then ask him to forgive you
and come into your life. Just pray a simple prayer, something like
LORD GOD, FORGIVE ME, A SINNER, COME INTO MY HEART, JESUS; MAKE ME
A NEW CREATURE. GIVE ME THE POWER AND STRENGTH THAT I NEED TO LIVE
FOR YOU. I'M YOURS.
If you prayed this prayer and meant it with all that is in you,
then you are now a child of God. Please get in touch with the
person on this pamphlet. I would love to hear from you and help
you in any way that I can in your new life. Praise his holy name!
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Nor of works, lest any man
should boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
